
Jesus is better. That is what the 1st century Christians had to believe with their whole heart if they were to endure the persecution and societal pressure all around them. Many had already given in and returned to their former religion of Judaism, and many were tempted to follow suit. Hebrews was written as a theological exhortation to keep running the race. It explains with incredible detail that Jesus is better in every way than the Old Covenant religion that many had returned to.
